We like 1960s drama Breathless where  Joanna Page stars as Lily Enderbury an ex nurse now married to the hospital’s anaesthetist.  She wears classic upswept glasses of the 1950s/60s.

That’s right, Monty Don was spotted on BBC Gardener’s World last night in the shed wearing glasses identical to the Savile Row round padded Tortoiseshell  or Chestnut frame seen here.  His even have curl sides which are available from Roope Vintage as well!

Top of the Lake director in stylish specs

Have you seen BBC Two drama Top of the Lake?  We spotted director Jane Campion, in a film about the making of the TV miniseries, in some very stylish glasses and sunglasses along with her co creator Gerard Lee.

Campion wears glasses similar in shape to the Anglo American175‘ and sunglasses similar to Black EyewearBix‘.

Gerard Lee’s glasses are like the very traditional Saville Row.

Stunning Sunnies in Carribean Mystery

Marple – a Caribbean Mystery, which was shown Sunday night on ITV, featured some stunning cat eye sunglasses.  Classic 1950s styles were worn by Hermione Norris as Evelyn Hillingdon and MyAnna Buring as Lucky Dyson who turned out not to be so lucky.  Miss Marple managed to make quite an impression on the crochety old Rafiel played by Antony Sher who wore frames similar to the Black Eyewear ‘Artie’.

The Lady Vanishes

Last weekend saw the broadcast of BBC remake of classic Alfred Hitchcock film The Lady Vanishes.  By all accounts this version follows the original 1936 novel by Ethel Lina White, The Wheel Spins, more closely; however, it is no Hitchcock and much of the humour of the 1938 film was lost.  There were wonderful vintage glasses throughout.

 

 

 

Magic City

Mitch Glazer’s latest production, US television series Magic City, is a cross between Mad Men and The Godfather.  Set in a glamorous Miami Beach hotel in 1959 the show is full of beautiful people in wonderful weather, a great backdrop for fantastic period sunglasses!
