Margaret Thatcher Tribute

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

Think what you like about Margaret Thatcher and her three terms in office, as the nation prepares for her funeral we look at the eyewear which surrounded her political career.  While the PM did not wear glasses we have found an image of the Iron Lady in some very stylish 1980s sunglasses.  Two of her closest cabinet members are specs wearers, Geoffrey Howe in classic styles of the 1960s and Norman Tebbit in a half eye reader.

Hanks even sported wayfarer style sunglasses similar to Black Eyewear Max on his way to the movie premiere riding a moped like his character Larry Crowne.

Hanks co-star Julia Roberts also wears stylish sunglasses as teacher Mercedes Tainot.

The Colourful Eyewear of Ronit Furst

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

If you are looking for glasses to help you express your creativity and flair you may already be a fan of Ronit Furst‘s hand painted eyewear.  The Isreali artist and designer has been creating works of ceramic art for years.  In 2002 she recognised a gap in the eyewear market for optical frames which abound with colour and pattern.  These hand painted frames are unique and individual.  We are proud to be among a select group of exclusive eyewear boutiques to offer Ronit Furst to our customers.  These glasses can be fitted with prescription lenses.  Please view our range of her collection here:

Mary Portas wears readers

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

In Mary Portas’ most recent series Secret Shopper she was naming and shaming bad service from high street multiples.  She was also filmed wearing readers while revealing her undercover footage to Head Office Execs.  Not one to go mainstream Mary’s are not your average reading glasses.  If you want statement glasses like hers made up as readers you have come to the right place!

Here she wears glasses that are a cross between the Black Eyewear Mingus and Tatum.  Both frames make great reading glasses!

And here she wears large frames similar to our Retro 50s Memphis.
