Cheltenham Jazz Festival, 2-7 May 2012, hosted some of our favourite musicians: Melody Gardot (in new dark specs), Paloma Faith and Jamie Cullum. As well as Imelda May and the Puppini Sisters.

The lovely and talented Melody Gardot is about to release a new album entitled The Absence. This songstress is a favourite of ours and is one of the few contemporary jazz musicians to be included as a dedication in our Black Eyewear collection of frames and sunglasses. Our Melody is bold and sexy yet at the same time sophisticated and elegant just like the woman herself. We can’t wait for the new album!

Frame of the Week: Herbie

This week the Frame of the Week is the Black Eyewear Herbie GRTS. This frame is dedicated to Jazz Great Herbie Hancock, pianist, keyboardist, bandleader and composer. A primary architect of the post-bop sound, he was one of the first jazz musicians to embrace music synthesizers and funk music.

This week’s Frame of the Week is the Black Eyewear Saskia. This frame is dedicated to Jazz Great Saskia Laroo. Trumpeter dubbed “Lady Miles Davis”, she hails from the Netherlands and has been described as an expert improviser for her tasteful solos and their subtle surprises.

2 Days in New York

Sundance London is currently on at the O2. If you love film this is the place to be this weekend. You may recall about six months ago we wrote about Julie Delpy’s charming comedy Two Days in Paris. She’s back with a follow up film called Two Days in New York which will be debuting at Sundance London.

Marion (Delpy) has left her husband of Two Days in Paris and is living in New York with Chris Rock’s Mingus. The arrival of Marion’s French family puts the relationship under pressure. Marion has kept the 50s style glasses she wore in Two Days in Paris and hipster Mingus also wears chic black glasses. (Unfortunately they are not similar to our Mingus frames!)

Frame of the Week: Cannonball

This week’s Frame of the Week is the Black Eyewear Cannonball. This frame is dedicated to Jazz Great Cannonball Adderley (1928-1975). Alto saxophonist, he was the brother of jazz cornetist Nat Adderley, and is renowned for his work with trumpeter Miles Davis and his chart hit single Mercy Mercy Mercy.
