John Lennon’s iconic round metal specs are familiar to us all but in the 2009 film Nowhere Boy you will see him portrayed in some very different but equally powerful glasses. The film, directed by Sam Taylor-Wood and starring Aaron Johnson, Kristin Scott Thomas and Ophelia Lovibond, chronicles John Lennon’s childhood and teen years of the 1950’s.
Lennon’s isn’t the only character to sport vintage 50’s frames. His mother, as played by Anne-Marie Duff, also wears some fantastic upswept sunglasses.

RoopeVintage recently received a lovely e-mail from our friend Mama Tokus. She kindly supplied us with photos of herself in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, at the Burning Man Festival this September. She looks fab wearing her Tatum sunglasses against the colourful background of the desert.

Check out Mama Tokus and her amazing jazz music on YouTube.

The much anticipated Harry Potter finale begins now with the first installment Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in cinemas on Friday. Although both Harry and the actor who portrays him, Daniel Radcliffe, have grown and changed throughout the series; Harry Potter’s glasses have stayed much the same over the years. He still wears a round black frame identical to our Saville Row Round Padded Black frame.

BBC Gardeners’ World expert, Alys Fowler knows more than just gardening. She sports one after another stylish frame. From upswept to nhs, and even a frame that looks similar to our Black Eyewear ‘Peggy’, we applaud her choice of eyewear.
