Black Eyewear London has just opened at 38 Goodge Street, making journeys to our St Albans showroom unnecessary. We welcomed our first customers Friday as we were setting up. Be sure to visit soon for designer glasses and sunglasses.

A popular shape for ladies worn by glamour girls such as Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly, cat eye glasses are back in fashion!
So often we have customers come to us asking for larger than average frames. Fortunately, one of the ideas behind the Black Eyewear label is ‘vintage styles for today’s faces‘. We have a variety of large frames to offer men and women.
What does large mean when it comes to choosing frames? Of course the measurements are important. An average lens width would measure 45 or 48mm while some Black Eyewear models measure 56 or even 60mm. But the overall size and thickness of the frame must also be taken into consideration. Are you looking for a wide frame or a chunky frame, a large lens area or a large frame area?
Here are a few of our largest designer glasses for men and women:
We’ve joined Pinterest and love creating pin boards for Roope Vintage and Black Eyewear. It’s not all about the frames either, check out the inspiration behind Black Eyewear with posts on Jazz and design favourites. Here’s a little sample, please follow us and spread the word by repinning!
Design is important to us at Roope Vintage and is evident in our collection of vintage and reproduction glasses and sunglasses. Design also runs in the Roope family.
London design group Hulger has won awards for its eco friendly light bulb, Plumen. The world’s first designer low-energy light bulb was co-designed by Nicholas Roope, son of Robert Roope. Here he is wearing fab retro Anglo American Princeton glasses while demonstrating the versitility of the Plumen!
13 year old fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson has been making headlines. Darling of the fashion world she can do no wrong with friends and supporters such as Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld. We applaud Tavi for her bold eyewear choices and appreciate her fashion forward approach to eyewear.
She wears bold Clear Crystal Sunglasses similar to Black Eyewear Zoot.
She even rocks the Granny Chic look in some small clear crystal frames.
