Black Eyewear Launch Party

The launch of the Goodge Street Shop took place Thursday 11th July 2013 and was a huge success thanks to friends and colleagues who joined us.  There were drinks, canapés, live jazz (thanks to Nathan Haines), a competition and of course Black Eyewear glasses and sunglasses!

Dave Brubeck Turns 90!

Jazz great Dave Brubeck turns 90 next week on 6th December!

This week he is being celebrated across the UK with a variety of tributes, interviews, and concerts.

Tonight don’t miss the first in a two part interview where Jamie Cullum interviews the legendary jazz pianist and composer.  This interview will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 at 7 pm this evening.  In a unique interview recorded at the 2010 Newport Jazz Festival, Jamie asks his hero all the questions he has always wanted answered.  The second part will go out next week 7th December.

Friday 3rd December  BBC4  at 9pm a new documentary, (co-produced by Clint Eastwood) Dave Brubeck – In His Own Sweet Way, tells Brubeck’s personal story.  This Arena program traces Brubeck’s career from his first musical experiences to the overwhelming success of the Dave Brubeck Quartet and the iconic status he and his varied forms of musical expression have achieved.

Dave Brubeck is one of the Jazz Greats who inspired the Black Eyewear collection at  His style led to the creation of glasses such as the Bix, Tatum, and most recently the JayJay.

Did you know that Robert Roope, the man behind Roope Vintage and Black Eyewear is also the creative designer of the Black Eyewear glasses and sunglasses collection?  Inspired by the Jazz Greats of the 1940s and 50s the collection features vintage style frames, each named after jazz musicians.

No-One Shop Black Eyewear Launch

The no-one shop successfully launched the Black Eyewear collection Thursday 24th June 2010.  The collection of designer sunglasses were introduced and guests were entertained with jazz music and designer Robert Roope’s harmonica solo.
