Marple – a Caribbean Mystery, which was shown Sunday night on ITV, featured some stunning cat eye sunglasses. Classic 1950s styles were worn by Hermione Norris as Evelyn Hillingdon and MyAnna Buring as Lucky Dyson who turned out not to be so lucky. Miss Marple managed to make quite an impression on the crochety old Rafiel played by Antony Sher who wore frames similar to the Black Eyewear ‘Artie’.
It has been exactly one week since Roope Vintage exhibited at Goodwood Revival 2012. This year’s festival broke all the records and was a sell-out event with a record number of attendees! Motor racing hero Dan Gurney was honoured in style and celebrities Ewan McGregor, Kim Cattrall and Rowan Atkinson were spotted amongst the motor racing enthusiasts. We had a great time too and it was lovely to catch up with familiar faces we haven’t seen for a while.
We’ve joined Pinterest and love creating pin boards for Roope Vintage and Black Eyewear. It’s not all about the frames either, check out the inspiration behind Black Eyewear with posts on Jazz and design favourites. Here’s a little sample, please follow us and spread the word by repinning!

Try recently released Hunky Dory in which enthusiastic drama teacher (Minnie Driver) Vivienne tries to engage her students by putting on a musical version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest with contemporary songs. Set to release in the UK on the 26th October, The Help is a film based on Kathryn Stockett’s book of the same name. Set in 1960’s Mississippi, Skeeter Phelan an aspiring journalist decides to interview the town’s African American maids and write a book detailing the day to day hardships they face taking care of prominent southern families. While the film has divided the opinion of American audiences the feel of the 1960’s is undeniable and includes some fantastic cat eye sunglasses and upswept glasses.
Jessica Chastain as Celia Foote can be seen in frames similar to our AA Miami.

Last weekend, just as the buzz from Vintage at Goodwood was dying down, we were off to West Sussex again. This time to enjoy the atmosphere surrounding the Goodwood Revival Meeting. We never rest on our laurels and were out promoting the Vintage brand and our Black Eyewear frames. New frames Peggy and Rox proved particularly popular with visitors to our Vintage stand.
