‘Life in Squares’ or in vintage glasses?

Wednesday, September 9th, 2015

Recent BBC2 drama mini-series Life in Squares was not received with huge acclaim however we noted it for the vintage frames.  Both the character of Lytton Strachey and that of the mature Virginia Woolf wear appropriate eyewear of the time.  For Lytton’s small metal oval gold frames try the OVAL ‘Olly‘ Gold.  Virginia’s bold round glasses are the spitting image of the Black Eyewear ‘Chico

Last week’s BBC 2 historical drama Castles in the Sky was the wonderful telling of the invention of the radar which was so important in the Battle of Britain.  Starring Eddie Izzard as spectacle-wearing inventor Robert Watson-Watt, actors Alex Jennings and Julian Rhind-Tutt also wore glasses appropriate to the 1940s as Henry Tizzard and Albert Percival Rowe.

The Lady Vanishes

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

Last weekend saw the broadcast of BBC remake of classic Alfred Hitchcock film The Lady Vanishes.  By all accounts this version follows the original 1936 novel by Ethel Lina White, The Wheel Spins, more closely; however, it is no Hitchcock and much of the humour of the 1938 film was lost.  There were wonderful vintage glasses throughout.
