Set in 1930s India, during the final years of British colonial rule, Channel 4’s Indian Summers is a stunning visual feast. As you would expect, the period costuming is wonderful and includes round NHS style glasses for the character Eugene Mathers.
Have you seen BBC Two drama Top of the Lake? We spotted director Jane Campion, in a film about the making of the TV miniseries, in some very stylish glasses and sunglasses along with her co creator Gerard Lee.
Gerard Lee’s glasses are like the very traditional Saville Row.
Ben Stiller’s latest project is to star in a new production of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The film is based on the 1939 short story by American author and New Yorker contributor James Thurber. Mitty is drawn into daydreams where he performs heroic actions out of character with his everyday exitance. The story was also made into a film in 1947 which starred comedic actor Danny Kaye. Stiller wears appropriate vintage eyewear throughout the film and has been aged to play Mitty. Look out for the film in 2013.
If you are, have you noticed the fantastic vintage glasses. If you are not, you must tune into this great serial drama directed by Martin Scorsese set in Atlantic City during the Prohibition Era. Here are some retro frames similar to the eyewear seen in the show.
Boardwalk Empire on Sky Atlantic Saturdays 9pm. Don’t miss it!
